If you are starting your Wordpress voyage and would like to know how to design/code your templates and work with dynamic sidebars, widgets, plugins, etc. you might get confused or overwhelmed by the volume of information out there.
My road to Wordpress knowledge wasn’t too bumpy but like anything related to web technology it’s a never-ending road as new versions get released regularly and with each major release there are new things to learn, new widgets/plugins to install and implement.
To make the lives of other designers a little easier I put together a little collection of resources:
Templating
Dynamic content
General information
So I had that little problem creating new font files for sIFR3. As I posted yesterday, I either got the “Please pass in your text.” error or just a blank where my text should be.
It turns out that whenever I used the text tool in Flash to select the text and change it to another font I ended up with a blank font .swf.
When creating new font files for sIFR3 just open the .fla in Flash (I am using CS3) and using the select tool double click the movie clip in the library. When the movie clip opens it will automatically select the text box. At that point you can change the font to be used in the file, save movie as (I use the font name for the font file) and export the movie.
You can test the movie before exporting and if you see “Rendered with sIFR3…” it means the font file is working correctly.
It was so easy to install and configure I thought I might have missed something…
For those who are looking for information on the process here is a simplified version of it:
1- Create your feed on
Feedburner by using your WP’s feed url (usually something like yoursite.com/feed).
Make sure you write down the feedburner url for your new feed.
2- Download and install plugin
Feedburner Feedsmith Plugin.
3- Configure your plugin using the feedburner URL you created on step 1.
4- Replace your default RSS link with the feedburner URL and your done.
I hope this might help others get through the process.
